  • ・As members of the 'Biratori Local Production for Local Consumption Group,' six restaurants in the town each offer a special item on their menu called the 'Nispa no Koibito Lunch'. Please see below for details.

What is 'Nispa no Koibito Lunch'?

The definition of a 'Nispa no Koibito Lunch'

The rice must be produced in Biratori. The meat must be either Biratori Wagyu or Biratori Kurobuta Pork. Biratori tomatoes or processed Biratori tomato products must be used. The vegetables must be seasonal and produced in Biratori. The price is uniformly set at ¥1,300 (including tax).

* Nispa (the Ainu word for gentleman) no koibito (Japanese for 'the lover of') translates to 'gentleman's lover,' and is the brand name of tomatoes and processed tomato products produced in Biratori, which boasts the largest shipment of tomatoes, by volume, in Hokkaido. The name stems from the story of Nispa, who ate the ripe, red tomatoes every day to maintain his health, and became smitten by them, just like a lover.
